Of all the hills and fields contained inside the ranch, there was one hill where you could always find Sunset Dreams' three lone Pokemon. The sunset shone in your face and the clouds glowed pink and gold. If the time was right, you could see the stars begin to illuminate the night sky alongside the moon. It wasn't too high off the ground, so that a false step could send you tumbling and hurt you, nor too low, so that it was basically even with the meadows.

Ash lay at the top of an outcropping of rocks on the plateaued peak of the hill. Her two ranchmates, Falsetto the Togepi and Striker the Zigzagoon, dashed around the rocks, sometimes chasing each other, sometimes chasing some unknown objeck, or sometimes trying to master moves together. Ash, seeing she was both stronger and higher-leveled than the two Pokemon, just rested on the rocks, hands behind her head in a very relaxed position.

"Ash?" A scratchy voice called up the rocks. "Can... can you help me learn Headbutt?"

Ash rolled her eyes and smiled, sitting up. "I don't know Headbutt, stupid." You joked. Striker smiled, though disappointment was evident in his eyes. "You won't get it right away. Don't worry. You'll learn it eventually." He looked away and sighed.

    "Oh... okay..."

Guilt surged through the Charmander. She felt bad for not being able to help him. Was she even able to learn headbutt?

The sun slowly sank below the horizon, allowing the stars to come out and the small sliver of the moon to make a trying attempt at lighting up the ranch. Falsetto and Striker shivered a little, though Ash didn't feel cold at all. She didn't realize how chilled they were until she used Ember to use as a light source and they scurried towards it. "Heh heh... Sorry guys. Being a Fire-type doesn't help me figure out when you're cold." Falsetto giggled.

"It's so cool, you being a Fire-type!" She exclaimed. "You must be able to evolve soon! Do you know how strong you are?"

Ash looked down at her hands. She had to be a high enough level to evolve. "I learned so many new moves... Why haven't I evolved yet...?"

Her question was quickly solved when her vision began to get lighter. She strained her eyes to see her hands, only to see a thick silver mist around them. She was losing sight faster when she whipped her head to see her friends, eyes wide and jaws dropped.

    "Ash...! Y- You're evolving!"

Soon, her vision went white. She whipped around trying to find something to look at. Suddenly, she felt strange. It was just for a moment, and she quickly felt fine again. Then it happened again, only faster. It began to occur more and more and even faster until the odd feeling stayed and her vision began to clear again.

Her eyes still adjusting to the dark, he could hear Falsetto's excited squeals. "Ash!" She cried. "You evolved! You're a Charmeleon!" Blinking the remaining mist from her eyes, Ash looked at her hands and her legs. Her skin was a darker shade of orange, and seemed harder.

"I-" She began to say, only to snap her mouth shut. Her voice was a tad bit deeper and it bugged her. "Well then. I... I guess that answers my question." She hopped down from the rocks, where Falsetto dove into her arms. Striker dashed around at her feet.

    "Congratulations, Ash!"
Ash gained 2 levels!
Falsetto gained 2 levels!
Striker gained 2 levels!

Next step: work on my other Pokemon because I'm not just in love with fire-types
